Free Swimming Classes in CDMX Utopias for 2026: Pre-registration Dates

The Utopias of Mexico City (CDMX) are once again offering free swimming lessons in their public pools for 2026. These popular aquatic programs, part of the Units of Transformation and Organization for Inclusion and Social Harmony (Utopias), aim to provide accessible sports activities for residents.

Pre-registration for these highly sought-after classes will take place from January 7 to January 15, 2026. Interested individuals are encouraged to mark their calendars and prepare the necessary documentation to secure a spot.

Which Utopias are Offering Classes and When?

Currently, 12 Utopias are participating in this initiative, each with programs tailored for different ages and skill levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced). Anyone over the age of 6 is eligible to enroll. However, specific pre-registration dates vary by Utopia:

  • Wednesday, January 7: Utopias Cascada, Teotongo, and Olini
  • Thursday, January 8: Utopias Papalotl, Atzintli, and Olini
  • Friday, January 9: Utopias Quetzalcóatl, Ixtapalcalli, and Olini
  • Saturday, January 10: Utopias Libertad, Tezontli, and Huizachtépetl
  • Tuesday, January 13: Utopias Tezontli, Cihuacóatl, and Meyehualco
  • Wednesday, January 14: Utopias Meyehualco, Cihuacóatl, and Cuauhtlicalli
  • Thursday, January 15: Utopia Meyehualco

Note: Utopia Cihuacóatl has limited spots available exclusively for children aged 6 to 12 years.

Required Documents for Pre-registration

To participate in the pre-registration process, applicants must present the following documents at the Utopia where they wish to take classes:

  1. Proof of Address: A copy of a utility bill or similar document, not older than two months, showing an address in CDMX.
  2. Updated CURP: A copy of the applicant’s updated CURP (Unique Population Registry Code) for 2025.
  3. Official Identification: A copy of official identification. For minors, the identification of a parent or legal guardian is required.
  4. Medical Certificate: A medical certificate issued by a public institution (such as IMSS, ISSSTE, Health Center, DIF, or Red Cross) within the last three months, stating that the individual is fit for swimming activities.
  5. Certified Birth Certificate: A certified copy of an updated birth certificate.
  6. Passport-sized Photos: Two recent passport-sized photographs.
  7. Authorized Pickup Photo (for minors): For minors, an additional photograph of the person authorized to pick them up from class.

Additional Requirements:

  • For individuals over 40 years old: An electrocardiogram and a six-element blood chemistry test, both not older than three months.
  • For individuals with disabilities: A certified disability and functionality certificate, along with documentation of the person assisting them in class.

Applicants who meet these requirements will be scheduled for a medical review at the respective Utopia. Final placement in classes will depend on the results of this medical review and the availability of spots.
