Ciudad Juarez Sindico Outlines 2026 Work Plan, Emphasizing Transparency and Public Asset Oversight
Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico – Ana Carmen Estrada García, the Municipal Sindico of Ciudad Juarez, presented her comprehensive work plan for 2026 to the Citizen Participation Editorial Commission on Thursday, January 15, 2026. The plan highlights key initiatives aimed at enhancing transparency, ensuring accountability in public spending, and providing citizens with accessible information about municipal assets.
Interactive Map to Detail Public Assets and Points of Interest
During a meeting with council members Alejandro Alberto Jiménez Vargas, José Eduardo Valenzuela Martínez, and Gloria Rocío Mirazo de la Rosa, Sindico Estrada García announced that the first quarter of 2026 will be dedicated to developing an interactive map. This innovative tool will be made available to both the Municipal Government and the general public, serving as a comprehensive information and consultation resource.
“We want this interactive map to be a tool for information and consultation, not only for citizens but also for the members of the City Council, who are the representatives of the people of Juarez,” stated Estrada García.
The map will not only detail municipal properties but also include other valuable assets belonging to the city’s residents, such as cultural venues, public libraries, gymnasiums, public parks, and various other points of citizen interest. This initiative aims to provide a clear and accessible overview of the city’s resources.
Vigilance Over Public Budget and Participatory Works
Sindico Estrada García reiterated her office’s commitment to continuously monitor the public budget throughout the year. A particular focus will be placed on projects executed under the participatory budget scheme, ensuring that funds are allocated and utilized effectively and transparently. This oversight is crucial for maintaining public trust and ensuring that community-driven projects are completed as intended.
The Sindico also confirmed that the first report to the City Council, due on March 11, will include a dedicated section on the expenditures from the 2024 fiscal year. This report will provide a detailed account of how public funds were used, promoting greater financial transparency.
Special Reports on Gender-Inclusive Budgeting and Annual Performance
For the second quarter of 2026, the Sindico’s office plans to compile a special report focusing on all gender-inclusive budgets within the administration. This initiative underscores a commitment to promoting equity and ensuring that municipal spending considers the needs and impacts on all genders.
Additionally, an annual report covering the period from September 10, 2024, to September 10, 2025, will be presented earlier than usual due to upcoming electoral timelines. This adjustment ensures that a comprehensive overview of the Sindico’s work and the administration’s performance is available before the electoral process intensifies.
Collaboration with State Auditor General Planned
Sindico Estrada García also revealed plans for an event later in the year that will feature the State Auditor General, Héctor Acosta Félix. This collaboration signifies a commitment to working with higher authorities to ensure robust financial oversight and accountability within the municipality.
The initiatives outlined in the 2026 work plan by the Sindico of Ciudad Juarez aim to foster a more transparent and accountable local government, providing citizens with valuable information and ensuring responsible management of public resources.
