Skål International Mexico City Appoints New Board, Eyes 2026 World Cup Tourism Boom
Mexico City, January 17 – Skål International Mexico City, a professional organization for tourism leaders worldwide, held a gala dinner to announce the change of its Board of Directors. Ricardo Córdova Navarro, General Director of Hotel Camino Real Aeropuerto, was appointed president for the 2026 term. The new leadership aims to capitalize on the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup to significantly boost tourism to Mexico.
New Leadership Takes the Helm
The new board, sworn in by José Luis Menchelli, the club’s statutes officer, includes Alejandro Pérez as Vice President, Rodrigo Álvarez as Treasurer, Rafael González as Secretary, Rodrigo López as Commissioner 1, and Yesenia Vázquez as Commissioner 2. Cristina Vázquez, the outgoing president, will serve as Past President. Juan Ignacio Steta, Past World President of Skål International, officiated the change of the Presidents’ Collar, a symbol of leadership within the club.
Ricardo Córdova Navarro was also honored with the Medal of Friendship, recognizing his commitment to supporting the tourism professional community. Outgoing president Cristina Vázquez and Sonia Córdova, the new president’s wife, were presented with bouquets of roses.

In his address to tourism leaders from various sectors, including hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, and transportation, Ricardo Córdova emphasized that the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America presents an unparalleled opportunity to attract more visitors to Mexico.
“2026 is a World Cup year, the eyes of the world will be on Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey, making it a great opportunity for all of us to shine and demonstrate that we are the most important club of friends,” Córdova stated. “We will show the world not only the marvel of our Mexico City but also its gastronomy, service, and the friendship that we, as professionals, have always offered.”
In an interview with Excélsior, Ricardo Córdova, whose club has celebrated 75 years, underscored the importance of unity within the tourism sector to benefit both national and international visitors. “Being able to welcome our clients in restaurants, transport them, make their reservations as a travel agency, and organize tours as our representatives in the Skål Club do, has been wonderful,” Córdova Navarro expressed.
