Mexico City, January 17 – Turitour, in collaboration with the Secretariat of Tourism (Sectur) and Mobility ADO, has officially launched a new tourist route connecting Mexico City to Oaxaca. This initiative aims to provide travelers with an immersive experience into Oaxaca’s rich cultural, artisanal, historical, and culinary heritage, all delivered through a comfortable, secure, and accessible service.

Public-Private Collaboration Drives Tourism

The launch event, held in Mexico City, was led by Mariana del Carmen Díaz y Maxil, General Director of Professionalization and Tourism Competitiveness, representing Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, the Secretary of Tourism for the Government of Mexico, and Víctor Cortes Melo, General Manager of Personnel and Tourism for Mobility ADO. Díaz emphasized that this new route symbolizes a strong collaboration between the public and private sectors, highlighting the Mexican government’s commitment to leveraging tourism as a catalyst for social well-being.

Two-Night Stay to Boost Local Economy

The Turitour Oaxaca itinerary includes a two-night stay in Oaxaca, featuring visits to both iconic landmarks and emerging community tourism destinations. This approach is designed to generate direct economic benefits for host communities and foster local development. Díaz extended her gratitude to Víctor Cortés for Mobility ADO’s consistent support and collaboration with the Secretariat of Tourism, which has been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition.

Oaxaca: A Top Tourist Destination

Díaz proudly noted Oaxaca’s status as a premier tourist destination, highly valued by both domestic and international visitors. From January to June alone, Oaxaca recorded over 2.9 million tourists, achieving a 43 percent hotel occupancy rate and generating more than 11.3 billion pesos in economic revenue. She highlighted that the new route will allow visitors to experience an authentic Oaxaca, a “melting pot of cultures, a land of ancestral flavors, colors, sounds, and traditions that live on in its people, gastronomy, crafts, history, and heritage.”

Accessible and Engaging Experiences

The route is designed to be accessible to all, with strategic stops, guided tours, and community-focused gastronomic options. These elements encourage local residents to actively participate in tourism activities and reap their benefits.

Turitour Oaxaca: An Accessible and Permanent Option

Víctor Cortes Melo, General Manager of Personnel and Tourism at Mobility ADO, stated that this marks Turitour’s first route to include an overnight stay, making Oaxaca an ideal choice due to its significant tourist appeal. “Turitour Oaxaca is an accessible and permanent tour born from the coordination between government and private initiative. It includes transportation in state-of-the-art buses, accommodation, meals, mezcal tastings, visits to points of tourist interest, and interactive experiences in artisan workshops,” he explained.
