Ciudad Juárez, Chih. – Social awareness regarding animal protection has notably grown in Ciudad Juárez, leading to a higher number of reports and demands for justice from the public. This was announced by Alma Edith Arredondo Salinas, Director of Animal Care and Welfare (DABA).

Citizenship No Longer Normalizes Animal Cruelty

“The public is becoming aware and has stopped normalizing animal abuse. I thank the community for helping us defend these sentient beings who have no voice and are often violated even by their own guardians,” stated the official.

This increase in reports highlights a positive shift in public perception, with more citizens actively engaging in the protection of animals.

Recent Cases Highlight the Problem

In recent weeks, the Emergency and Immediate Response Center (CERI) of the Municipal Public Security Secretariat received three alarming reports:

  • A man attempting to strangle a dog with a hose in Infonavit Ángel Trías.
  • The discovery of charred dogs in the Azteca neighborhood.
  • Three dogs found in poor condition at Kilometer 20.

These incidents underscore the urgent need for continued vigilance and community involvement in addressing animal cruelty.

Anonymous Reporting Through WhatsApp

DABA reminded the public that reports can be made anonymously via WhatsApp to the number 656-554-3391. To file a report, individuals should send a description of the incident, precise location, photographic or video evidence, and await the generation of a corresponding case number.

These tools empower authorities to act within their jurisdiction and provide timely assistance to animals that are victims of violence.

“Citizen participation is key to curbing animal abuse and ensuring that those responsible face legal consequences,” concluded Arredondo Salinas.

The Role of Citizen Participation

The active involvement of the community is crucial in identifying and reporting cases of animal abuse. The anonymous reporting system aims to encourage more people to come forward without fear of reprisal, thereby strengthening the efforts to protect animals.

DABA’s Commitment to Animal Welfare

DABA continues to work towards fostering a culture of respect and protection for animals in Ciudad Juárez. The organization emphasizes the importance of education and public engagement to create a safer environment for all living creatures.

The growing number of denunciations is a testament to the effectiveness of DABA’s public awareness campaigns and the community’s increasing commitment to animal welfare. This trend is expected to continue as more citizens become aware of their role in combating animal cruelty.

The authorities are committed to investigating each report thoroughly and ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable for their actions, sending a clear message that animal abuse will not be tolerated in Ciudad Juárez.
