Iztapalapa to Face Water Supply Disruptions in Mexico City

Mexico City, January 26 – The Secretariat of Comprehensive Water Management (SEGIAGUA) of Mexico City has announced that the Iztapalapa borough will experience water supply disruptions for three days, starting at the beginning of the last week of January. This information was released via an official statement on Sunday, January 25th, through the agency’s social media channels.

The affected area is the Iztapalapa borough, where residents will face irregularities and cuts in water supply for three days.

Maintenance Work on Unidad Modelo 1 Well

According to the information provided to the residents of Iztapalapa, technical work will be carried out on the transformer of the Unidad Modelo 1 well. These tasks involve the replacement of cables, which will lead to a decrease in water pressure in the Unidad Modelo and Cacama neighborhoods.

SEGIAGUA’s official notice indicates that maintenance work began on January 24th at 6:00 p.m. and the water service is expected to be restored on Tuesday, January 27th, once the scheduled work is completed. During this period, residents of the affected neighborhoods are advised to expect reduced water pressure and are encouraged to take necessary precautions regarding water usage and storage.

Support Measures for Affected Residents

In anticipation of potential inconveniences, SEGIAGUA has activated support mechanisms for residents who may be affected by the low pressure. These options include:

  • Requesting water tankers by calling Line H2O at *426.
  • Accessing additional information and updates through SEGIAGUA’s social media networks, available on platforms such as X, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Staying attentive to official announcements for updates on the progress of the work and confirmation of the service restoration date.

The statement emphasizes that SEGIAGUA’s technical team is working to minimize the impact on the population and ensure a return to normalcy as quickly as possible. Authorities reiterated their commitment to timely communication regarding any changes in the schedule or the provision of potable water services in the area.

Finally, the Secretariat of Comprehensive Water Management urged residents to make rational use of water during the maintenance period and to report any anomalies through the established official channels.
