Ciudad Juarez, January 27, 2026 – A father and son, identified as José Francisco, 54, and Saúl, 19, employees of a junkyard, were shot and beaten by armed individuals in Ciudad Juarez. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at the intersection of Isla Puerto Rico and Zapotenco streets in the Plutarco Elías Calles neighborhood.

Details of the Attack and Escape

According to authorities, the victims were driving a yellow pickup truck, adapted as a tow truck, when they were intercepted by armed suspects. The assailants forced the two men out of their vehicle, beat them, and then shot them multiple times before fleeing the scene.

Despite their injuries, José Francisco and Saúl managed to get back into their truck and drive towards the Hospital de la Familia. En route, they were intercepted by municipal police officers who then escorted them to ensure they received immediate medical attention.

Injuries Sustained and Ongoing Investigation

José Francisco sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder, while his son, Saúl, suffered two gunshot wounds, one to the spine and another to the leg. Their condition at the hospital has not been officially released, but family members were present at the hospital awaiting information.

Outside the hospital, authorities secured the truck the victims arrived in. Personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office are expected to arrive to begin the corresponding investigations into the shooting and assault.

Context of Insecurity in Chihuahua

This incident adds to concerns about insecurity in Chihuahua. Recent reports from the region include the discovery of a deceased man in the 15 de Enero neighborhood of Ciudad Juarez, the arrest of a man attempting to steal a ministerial patrol car, and the death of a former traffic police agent in a traffic accident on Juan Escutia Avenue.

Authorities have not yet released any information regarding the possible motives behind the attack or the identity of the assailants. The investigation is in its early stages, and further details are expected as the authorities gather more evidence and interview witnesses.

The quick action of the victims in driving themselves to the hospital, and the subsequent police escort, highlights the urgent need for medical intervention in such violent incidents. The community remains concerned about the ongoing challenges related to public safety in Ciudad Juarez.
