MEXICO CITY (apro) – The Government of Mexico City has officially announced the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 Trophy Tour, confirming that the prestigious trophy will be displayed at the Utopía Magdalena Mixhuca from June 5 to 8, 2026. This move is part of an effort to bring the excitement of the upcoming World Cup closer to the city’s residents.
A Historic Tour Begins in Mexico City
Speaking from the esplanade of the Monument to the Revolution, Mexico City’s Head of Government, Clara Brugada Molina, emphasized the objective behind bringing the trophy to Utopía Magdalena Mixhuca, located in the Iztacalco borough. “What we want is for the majority of the population to be able to experience, enjoy, and connect with what generates emotion,” Brugada stated.
Gabriela Cuevas Barrón, the federal government’s representative for the FIFA World Cup 2026, confirmed that Mexico City holds the unique distinction of being the first city in North America to host the World Cup trophy. The tour is set to commence its journey across the continent on February 26, 2026.
“In less than a month, the FIFA World Cup trophy will begin its journey in Mexico. And the tour throughout North America starts here,” Cuevas Barrón highlighted.
The FIFA World Cup trophy has already been on a global tour for 25 days, as part of an extensive 150-day journey that includes 75 stops worldwide, leading up to the 2026 World Cup.
Extensive Mexican Itinerary
This sixth edition of the Trophy Tour will see the coveted Cup visit 10 cities across Mexico over a 26-day period. The tour will kick off with its arrival at Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) on February 26, 2026. Following its arrival, the trophy will travel to Guadalajara, where it will remain from February 26 to March 2.
Throughout March, the trophy’s itinerary includes stops in León from March 4 to 5, Veracruz from March 6 to 7, Chihuahua from March 9 to 10, Querétaro on March 11 and 12, Monterrey from March 14 to 16, Puebla on March 18 and 19, Chichén Itzá on March 20, and Mérida from March 21 to 22.
Subsequently, the trophy will continue its journey through the rest of North America before returning to Mexico City from June 5 to 8, 2026. It is estimated that over 200,000 Mexicans will have the opportunity to visit and take a photograph with the trophy during its final stop in the capital.

The World Cup trophy stands at 36.8 centimeters tall and weighs just over six kilograms, with four kilograms of its weight attributed to pure gold. Its iconic design and precious composition embody the pinnacle of global football achievement, making its tour a highly anticipated event for fans worldwide.
The exhibition in Mexico City is expected to draw massive crowds, offering a unique opportunity for residents to connect with the spirit of the World Cup ahead of the 2026 tournament, which Mexico will co-host with the United States and Canada.
