Moisés “N” Charged with Femicide in Mexico City Following Partner’s Death
Mexico City, February 2, 2026 – Moisés “N” has been formally charged with femicide in Mexico City for his alleged involvement in the death of his partner, which occurred on January 23 in a property in the 20 de Noviembre neighborhood, Venustiano Carranza borough. The Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (FGJCDMX) announced his indictment on Sunday, February 1.
According to investigations, on the night of the incident, Moisés “N” reportedly contacted his son by phone to inform him of what had happened. His son then immediately alerted emergency services, leading to the swift arrival of paramedics and officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) at the scene.
Upon entering the residence, emergency personnel discovered a deceased woman with signs of strangulation. Authorities stated that Moisés “N” was apprehended at the crime scene. However, due to his health condition, he was initially transferred to a medical unit for specialized care.
Reclassification of the Crime and Re-arrest
The case, initially investigated as a homicide, was reclassified as femicide after ministerial and expert analysis of the evidence revealed indications of a violent death due to gender-based reasons. This reclassification allowed the FGJCDMX to request an arrest warrant against Moisés “N”.
A control judge granted the request, and agents from the Investigative Police (PDI) executed the warrant on January 24, once Moisés “N” had been discharged from medical care. This process ensured that the investigation proceeded under the classification of femicide, enabling the application of specific penalties and procedures for this type of crime.
Initial Hearing, Indictment, and Precautionary Measures
The initial hearing took place on January 30, where Moisés “N” appeared before the control judge. During this session, he was formally indicted for the crime of femicide. The judge imposed the precautionary measure of pre-trial detention for the accused.
Additionally, a three-month period was set for the closure of the complementary investigation. This timeframe allows all parties to present further evidence and develop their arguments within the criminal process.
The incident highlights ongoing efforts by authorities in Mexico City to address gender-based violence and ensure that such crimes are investigated and prosecuted under the appropriate legal framework, providing justice for victims and their families.
