Deputy Francisco Sánchez Denounces “Historic Abandonment” of Ciudad Juárez

Ciudad Juárez, February 9, 2026 – Deputy Francisco Sánchez Villegas has issued a strong criticism of the current conditions in the border city, describing the situation as an “historic abandonment” due to deficiencies in infrastructure and security. Sánchez Villegas stated that the citizenry faces critical challenges such as deteriorating roads, violence, and the resurgence of previously controlled diseases, including measles and screwworm, which he attributed to a failure of basic governmental responsibilities.

Federal Government Criticized for Neglecting Local Needs

The legislator condemned the federal government for allocating public resources to other countries while the city suffers from a “budgetary plunder.” He criticized the financing of external regimes, emphasizing that Ciudad Juárez is experiencing a severe lack of investment.

“The families of Juárez have reached a limit of tolerance in the face of the ‘contempt’ of the centralist regime,” Sánchez Villegas warned, highlighting the growing frustration among residents.

He further asserted that a political change would be driven from Ciudad Juárez, recalling the city’s historical role in the country’s transformations. The deputy concluded that the city could not withstand the continuity of the current government scheme, calling for prioritization of investment in the border region to curb impoverishment and social backwardness.

Key Issues Highlighted by Deputy Sánchez Villegas:

  • Deterioration of Roads: A significant concern affecting daily life and economic activity.
  • Violence: A critical security challenge impacting the community.
  • Resurgence of Diseases: Including measles and screwworm, indicating a decline in public health management.
  • Budgetary Plunder: Allegations of federal resources being diverted from local needs.
  • Centralist Regime’s Contempt: A perceived disregard for the needs of Ciudad Juárez by the central government.

The deputy’s remarks underscore a growing sentiment of dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs and a demand for greater governmental accountability and investment in the region. The call for political change reflects a desire for a government that prioritizes the welfare and development of Ciudad Juárez.
