Ciudad Juarez, February 10 – A comprehensive training program on the Unique Protocol for the Prevention, Detection, and Action in Cases of Violence in Basic Education Schools in Chihuahua State was successfully conducted for 220 primary school teachers and administrators in Ciudad Juarez. The initiative, held yesterday, February 10, aimed to equip educators with the necessary tools to protect the rights and ensure the integrity of students.

Subsecretary Emphasizes Knowledge as Key to Combating Violence

The inauguration of the workshop was led by Maurilio Fuentes Estrada, Undersecretary of Education for the Northern Zone. During his address, Estrada highlighted that the most effective way to confront situations of violence, bullying, sexual abuse, and mistreatment is through a thorough understanding of how to act when such problems arise.

“This effort reflects the firm commitment of you, the educational community, to the well-being, safety, and comprehensive formation of the girls, boys, and adolescents who are our students,” Estrada stated, underscoring the importance of the educators’ role in creating a secure learning environment.

220 Educators from 15 Schools Participated

Verónica Espinoza Romero, school supervisor for Zone 39 North Region, confirmed that the training benefited 220 teachers, including classroom educators, Support and Assistance to Education Personnel (PAAE), physical education teachers, art teachers, and school administrators. The participants represented 15 schools within Zone 39.

Espinoza Romero further elaborated on the objective of the training: “The goal is to provide tools and strategies for the prevention, detection, and action for the proper channeling of all those girls and boys who may suffer these situations.” This proactive approach aims to identify and address issues of violence early, ensuring timely intervention and support for affected students.

Expert-Led Training Sessions

The workshop was expertly delivered by Marisa Cardona Gurrola, coordinator of the School Coexistence Program for the Northern Zone. She was joined by personnel from the Chihuahuan School Guidance Group (Goechi), which is led by Commander Salvador Eduardo Fierro Díaz. Their combined expertise ensured that the training was comprehensive, practical, and directly applicable to real-world scenarios faced by educators.

The protocol covers a range of critical areas, including identifying early warning signs of violence, implementing effective prevention strategies, and understanding the proper procedures for reporting and responding to incidents of bullying, abuse, and other forms of mistreatment. The training also emphasized the importance of creating a supportive and inclusive school culture where students feel safe and empowered to report concerns.

Commitment to Student Well-being and Safety

This training initiative underscores the ongoing commitment of the educational authorities in Chihuahua to prioritize the well-being and safety of its students. By empowering teachers and administrators with specialized knowledge and practical tools, the program aims to foster a secure and nurturing educational environment across primary schools in Ciudad Juarez.

The implementation of the Unique Protocol is expected to standardize responses to violence, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in addressing these critical issues. This will not only protect students but also enhance the overall quality of education by creating conditions conducive to learning and development.

The success of this program is a testament to the collaborative efforts of various educational and support entities, all working towards the common goal of safeguarding the future generation.
