Ciudad Juárez Gears Up to Host Socca Americup 2026

Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, March 4, 2026 – Ciudad Juárez is set to host the prestigious Socca Americup 2026, an international reduced-format football tournament, as announced by municipal officials and directors of Socca Americup Mexico. The event aims to significantly boost tourism, the local economy, culture, and sports in the region.

International Football Comes to Juárez

The Socca Americup 2026 is a dynamic, fast-paced, reduced-format football competition governed by the International Socca Federation, headquartered in the United Kingdom. This format is known for its accessibility and engaging nature, making it popular with both players and spectators. Previous editions of the Socca Cup have been successfully held in various countries including Portugal, Greece, Hungary, Germany, Oman, and most recently, in Cancún, Mexico, last year.

Juan Escalante, Director of the Municipal Institute of Sports and Physical Culture, confirmed that 12 countries have already expressed their interest in participating. Their final confirmation is contingent upon the municipal government’s support for the event.

A Collaborative Effort for Regional Development

Mayor Cruz Pérez Cuéllar’s administration has been instrumental in bringing this international competition to Ciudad Juárez. “Thanks to the efforts of Mayor Cruz Pérez Cuéllar, this is the first time such an event will be held here, and the instruction is for it to be executed in the best possible way,” stated Escalante. He further emphasized that the tournament will be completely free of charge for attendees, taking place from May 20 to 24 at the iconic Plaza de la Mexicanidad.

The tournament schedule is packed, with 26 matches slated to be played over five days. Games will run from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily, featuring men’s open category teams from each participating nation.

Economic and Cultural Impact Anticipated

The decision to host the Socca Americup 2026 underscores Ciudad Juárez’s commitment to becoming a prominent destination for international sporting events. The influx of teams, support staff, and spectators is expected to generate substantial economic activity for local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, and various service providers. Beyond the immediate economic benefits, the event also serves as a platform to showcase the city’s rich culture and hospitality to a global audience.

Local authorities are working closely with Socca Americup Mexico to ensure all logistical aspects are meticulously planned, from venue preparation to security and visitor experience. The free admission policy is designed to encourage widespread community participation and foster a vibrant atmosphere throughout the tournament.

The Socca Americup 2026 represents a significant opportunity for Ciudad Juárez to enhance its international profile and demonstrate its capacity to host major global events, leaving a lasting positive impact on the city and its residents.
