Anti-Dispossession Cabinet Conducts 13 Operations in Mexico City, Restoring Properties to Owners
Mexico City, March 15, 2026 – The Anti-Dispossession Cabinet, a multi-agency task force, successfully conducted 13 inter-institutional operations between March 9 and March 13, resulting in the restitution of various properties to their rightful owners across Mexico City. These efforts also led to the securing of properties identified with irregular occupation or where attempts were made to impede access for those with legal ownership.
The operations addressed reports of unauthorized entries, irregular occupations, and conflicts stemming from attempts to unlawfully appropriate real estate. Interventions took place in several boroughs, including Iztapalapa, Xochimilco, Azcapotzalco, Benito Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, Venustiano Carranza, and Tláhuac.
Inter-institutional Collaboration for Effective Enforcement
The success of these operations was a result of comprehensive collaboration between various governmental entities. Key participants included the Secretariat of Government (SECGOB) and the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City (FGJCDMX), with active involvement from the Investigative Police (PDI). Additional support came from the General Coordination of Human Mobility (CGAMH), the Executive Instance of the Integral Human Rights System (IESIDH), the Human Rights Commission of Mexico City (CDHCM), and the Animal Surveillance Brigade. This multi-faceted approach ensured the protection of human rights and animal welfare where necessary during the interventions.
Addressing Irregular Occupations and Ensuring Legal Custody
Beyond the immediate restitution of properties, the Cabinet also conducted diligence for the safeguarding and legal follow-up of properties where seal breaches or re-occupation attempts were detected. This proactive measure aims to maintain the custody of these spaces while investigations are ongoing, preventing further illegal activities.
The actions taken by the Anti-Dispossession Cabinet underscore the city’s commitment to upholding property rights and ensuring legal order. The coordinated efforts of these institutions are crucial in combating the complex issue of illegal property appropriation in Mexico City, providing a vital mechanism for citizens to reclaim their rightful assets and deterring future attempts of dispossession.
The Cabinet’s continued vigilance and inter-agency cooperation are expected to play a significant role in maintaining stability in the real estate sector and protecting the legal framework of property ownership within the city.
