CIUDAD JUAREZ, CHIHUAHUA, MEXICO – Dr. Heather Wilson, President of the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), visited the Tec de Monterrey campus in Ciudad Juarez yesterday, March 16, 2026, to explore its educational model and the academic projects being developed in professional careers. The visit aimed to strengthen binational academic and industrial collaboration between the two institutions.
Tec de Monterrey Showcases Academic Programs and Industry Links
During the visit, Tec de Monterrey presented its academic programs from the Schools of Business and Engineering, highlighting international collaboration projects and industry partnerships that are integral to student development on campus. The delegation was led by Ing. Julio Chiu Olivares, President of the campus Council, and Judith Soto Moreno, Director of Tec de Monterrey in Ciudad Juarez.
“These encounters allow us to share how students are trained through a model connected to the academic and business environment,” commented Judith Soto, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to relevant and connected education.
The programs showcased included International Business, Strategy and Business Transformation, Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Mechatronics Engineering. A significant part of Dr. Wilson’s agenda included a meeting with over 150 professional program students from the campus. Students from International Business, Strategy and Business Transformation, Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Mechatronics Engineering participated in a dialogue covering international education, academic experiences, and potential collaboration opportunities between universities in the region.

The visit also featured a breakfast with members of the Tec de Monterrey campus Ciudad Juarez Council. Attendees included Alejandra de la Vega Arizpe, Miriam Guadalupe de la Vega Arizpe, Pablo Cuarón Galindo, Jorge Contreras Fornelli, Eduardo García Ortega, Luis Fernández Iturriza, and Omar Saucedo.
