Chihuahua Gears Up for 30th FITA: Ciudad Juárez to Host Limited Events

Ciudad Juárez, March 27, 2026 – The state of Chihuahua is preparing to celebrate three decades of the International Adventure Tourism Festival (FITA), with a program exceeding 100 events. However, only five of these activities will be held in Ciudad Juárez, with the remainder distributed throughout various municipalities in the region.

State authorities announced that this commemorative edition will feature a total of 102 activities, encompassing disciplines such as footraces, mountain biking, horseback riding, and off-road competitions. The primary objective is to strengthen sports tourism offerings in the region.

Economic Impact and Event Distribution

The festival is estimated to generate between 350 and 380 million pesos, surpassing previous years’ figures and attracting approximately 40,000 attendees across its various venues. This significant economic impact underscores FITA’s role in boosting local economies.

Within the extensive calendar, Ciudad Juárez will host five events, including trail running races and desert challenges. This selection aims to enhance adventure tourism opportunities in the border zone, while other activities will unfold in different parts of the state.

FITA’s Legacy and Future Plans

Edibray Gómez, the Secretary of Tourism, emphasized that FITA has solidified its position as a national and international benchmark. The festival has consistently promoted economic activity and showcased Chihuahua’s natural attractions across multiple regions.

As part of the commemoration, one of the main events will take place in Guachochi, within the framework of the Canyon Ultramarathon, scheduled from July 2 to 5. This event will also feature artistic performances and the creation of a time capsule.

Additionally, a historical exhibition is planned, featuring objects, audiovisual materials, and testimonies detailing FITA’s evolution. A congress focused on tourism development will also be held, including conferences and business meetings.

Ensuring Safety and Future Promotion

The state government has confirmed that security operations will be implemented in coordination with various corporations. These measures aim to guarantee optimal conditions for visitors and participants throughout all FITA 2026 activities.

The festival’s 30-year history has been marked by emblematic competitions that have significantly contributed to positioning Chihuahua as a key destination for adventure tourism in Mexico.
