New Torreón-Mexico City Flight Expands Air Connectivity

Mexico City, March 29, 2026 – Air connectivity between the Laguna Region and Mexico City has been significantly enhanced with the launch of a new direct flight from Torreón to the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA). Operated by Viva Aerobus, the new service commenced on March 27, 2026, and will run daily, with the exception of Saturdays.

Strategic Expansion of Air Routes

Marcelo Váldes Quintanilla, head of the Municipal Directorate of Economic Development, announced the new route, highlighting its importance for travelers from the Laguna Region. This expansion provides an additional option for reaching the Mexico City Metropolitan Area, complementing Viva Aerobus’s existing daily service from Torreón to the Mexico City International Airport (AICM).

“Having the route to AIFA gives Torreón more connectivity options, as it is a connecting airport where Viva operates to more than 50 national and international destinations,” stated Váldes Quintanilla. This strategic move aims to strengthen Torreón’s position as an attractive destination for both tourism and investment.

Boosting Regional Competitiveness and Investment

The Mayor, Román Alberto Cepeda González, has been a key proponent of improving Torreón’s air connectivity. This initiative is expected to enhance the city’s competitiveness, making it more appealing for new investments and attracting visitors to various large-scale sporting, cultural, and entertainment events.

Successful Seasonal Route and Future Plans

Váldes Quintanilla also noted the success of the seasonal Torreón-San Antonio route, also operated by Viva Aerobus. This service, which ran from November to January, saw high occupancy rates. Following this success, Viva Aerobus is currently evaluating the implementation of direct flights to San Antonio, Texas, during the upcoming summer season, from June to August.

This continuous expansion of flight options underscores the growing demand for air travel to and from Torreón, further integrating the region into national and international networks.
