Yucatan Governor Strengthens Ties with Community in Mexico City

MEXICO CITY, April 6, 2026 – Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena officially launched the initiative “Acércate al Renacimiento Maya en la Ciudad de México” (Get Closer to the Mayan Renaissance in Mexico City) yesterday, a strategic effort by the State Government to foster connections with the Yucatecan community living in the nation’s capital and the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico.

This mechanism, facilitated through the Representation of the State Government of Yucatan in Mexico City, aims to keep registered individuals informed about the actions of the Mayan Renaissance, provide guidance for administrative procedures, offer information on events and activities, and strengthen their bonds with the Yucatecan community in Mexico City.

Target Audience and Objectives

The initiative is designed for individuals originally from Yucatan, as well as those who maintain familial, cultural, or economic ties with the state and reside in the Valley of Mexico. Beyond offering services and information, this strategy will allow the State Government to gain a deeper understanding of the realities faced by the Yucatecan population living outside the state and to enhance institutional support.

The Yucatecan community in Mexico City and its metropolitan area actively participates in academic, professional, business, and service sectors, representing a strategic link for Yucatan and a presence that contributes to the strengthening of the entity beyond its borders.

Permanent Mechanism and Digital Platform

This mechanism will be permanent and continuously accessible to the Yucatecan community residing in the Valley of Mexico. To facilitate enrollment, the State Government has made a digital platform available to the public, accessible via the page https://form.typeform.com/to/LVGoODet or a QR code, with a registration process taking approximately two minutes.

As part of the extended governance model of the Mayan Renaissance Plan 2024-2030, promoted by Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena to maintain closeness with Yucatecans wherever they may be, registration can also be completed in person at the Representation of the State Government of Yucatan in Mexico City, located at Río Atoyac 9, in the Cuauhtémoc neighborhood.

The initiative underscores the commitment of the Yucatecan government to its diaspora, ensuring that geographical distance does not diminish the strong cultural and social ties that bind the community. This program is expected to foster a greater sense of belonging and provide essential support to Yucatecans making a life in Mexico City.

The “Acércate al Renacimiento Maya” program is a testament to the proactive approach of Governor Díaz Mena’s administration in engaging with its citizens beyond the state borders, reflecting a broader vision of inclusive governance and community building.
