Ten Dogs Rescued in Animal Cruelty Operations in Ciudad Juárez
Ciudad Juárez, April 9, 2026 – As part of ongoing efforts to combat animal cruelty, the District Attorney’s Office for the Northern Zone conducted several operations throughout March, resulting in the rescue of ten dogs in various neighborhoods across Ciudad Juárez.
The interventions were initiated following investigations by the Specialized Unit for the Investigation of Crimes against Danger, Peace, Security of Persons, and Public Faith. In total, six search warrants were executed in homes located in the Héroes de la Revolución, Nuevo México, Torres del Sur, Horizontes del Sur, Partido Romero, and Hidalgo neighborhoods.
Coordinated Effort and Animal Welfare
During these operations, authorities secured ten canines, including both males and females of various breeds, all allegedly found in conditions of mistreatment. The operations were supported by personnel from the State Investigation Agency and Public Ministry agents, in coordination with the Ecology Directorate’s Animal Protection Division.
Furthermore, members of the Mexican Army and the National Guard provided security reinforcement during the interventions, ensuring the safety and smooth execution of the operations. This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of local and national authorities to address and prevent animal cruelty.
Care and Further Investigation
The rescued animals were transported to the Directorate of Animal Care and Welfare (DABA), where they will receive medical evaluation and specialized care. This immediate attention is crucial for their recovery and rehabilitation, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment away from their previous conditions.
It is noteworthy that during one of the search warrants, an object resembling a firearm was also seized. This item has been placed under the custody of the Public Ministry for further investigation, highlighting the potential for other criminal activities to be uncovered during such operations.
Call for Public Participation
Authorities have reiterated their call to the public to report cases of animal cruelty through the emergency line 911, the anonymous reporting line 089, or directly at the District Attorney’s Office. Public vigilance and reporting are vital in the ongoing fight against animal cruelty, enabling authorities to act swiftly and decisively.
These successful operations in March demonstrate a proactive approach by Ciudad Juárez authorities to protect vulnerable animals and enforce animal welfare laws. The continued collaboration between different agencies and the community is essential for creating a safer environment for all living beings in the city.
