CEDEX Certifies Nearly 900 Individuals in Ciudad Juárez, Boosting Basic Education

Ciudad Juárez, April 8, 2026 – The eight Extra-curricular Education Centers (CEDEX) affiliated with the Educational Services of the State of Chihuahua in Ciudad Juárez have issued a total of 897 Basic Education certificates during the 2025-2026 school year. This significant achievement reflects the ongoing efforts to provide educational opportunities for adults who did not complete their basic education in their youth.

Certification Breakdown: Secondary and Primary Education

According to Roberto Alonso Carrillo Manríquez, supervisor of CEDEX Zone II, 749 individuals successfully obtained their secondary education certificates, while 148 students graduated from primary education. These figures highlight the impact of CEDEX programs in addressing educational gaps within the community.

Reaching Underserved Populations

Approximately 1,300 individuals over the age of 15, who were unable to complete their basic education during their schooling years, were served by these centers located in various localities across Ciudad Juárez. Carrillo Manríquez also indicated that an additional 300 individuals are projected to receive primary education certification in the near future, further expanding the reach of these crucial programs.

Flexible Study Modalities

CEDEX offers two distinct modalities to accommodate the diverse needs of its students:

  • Open Modality: Students receive one month of advisory sessions before taking a comprehensive examination for either primary or secondary level certification.
  • Semi-Schooled System: Students attend classes for two hours, Monday through Friday, over three semesters. Evening schedules are available from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., or 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., providing flexibility for working adults.

The primary objective of these programs is to offer the necessary facilities and opportunities for individuals to complete their primary or secondary education through CEDEX, thereby enabling them to pursue further studies at the high school and university levels, as stated by Carrillo Manríquez.

CEDEX Locations in Northern Zone

The eight CEDEX campuses in the Northern Zone of Ciudad Juárez include:

  • Ramón López Velarde, located in Paraje de San Isidro, at Cuauhtémoc Primary School.
  • Melchor Ocampo, situated in the Altavista neighborhood.
  • José María Morelos y Pavón, in the Arecas neighborhood.
  • México Lealtad in Hacienda de las Torres.
  • Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla in Riveras del Bravo IX.
  • Manuel Gómez Morín in the Anapra Community Center.
