Inter-American United Nations Forum to Be Held at Mexico City Congress

Mexico City, April 11 – The Inter-American United Nations Forum will take place on April 16 and 17 at the Mexico City Congress. The event will bring together experts and professors from the region, along with academics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), to discuss critical issues related to the 2030 Agenda.

Event Details and Participants

The announcement was made by Deputy Claudia Susana Pérez, President of the 2030 Agenda Commission of the Mexico City Congress, during the Seventh Remote Working Meeting of the commission. Pérez, a legislator from the PAN party, specified that the inauguration ceremony will be held at 8:00 AM on April 16 in the “Benito Juárez” Auditorium of the Congress. The closing ceremony is scheduled for 5:00 PM on April 17 at the Donceles Legislative Precinct.

Deputy Pérez extended an invitation to all members of the 2030 Agenda Commission to attend the debates, which will feature students from Mexico City and other Latin American nations. These discussions are expected to provide diverse perspectives on the implementation and challenges of the 2030 Agenda’s sustainable development goals.

Commission’s Semiannual Report and Future Plans

During the virtual meeting, the Semiannual Report of Activities for the 2030 Agenda Commission, covering the period from September 2025 to February 2026, was presented and approved by its members. The report highlights the commission’s plans for organizing forums and working groups in the coming months. These initiatives aim to strengthen the implementation of sustainable development objectives within Mexico City and consolidate actions aligned with the broader 2030 Agenda.

The report also detailed the commission’s regular meetings, during which the Annual Work Plan was approved. Furthermore, it underscored the establishment of various working tables with academic institutions, international organizations, and civil society groups. Notable collaborations include those with the United Nations Information Center and the Iberoamericana University, demonstrating a concerted effort to engage a wide range of stakeholders in achieving the sustainable development goals.

These ongoing efforts reflect the Mexico City Congress’s commitment to advancing the 2030 Agenda and fostering a more sustainable future for the capital and the wider region. The upcoming Inter-American United Nations Forum is expected to be a significant step in this direction, facilitating crucial dialogues and collaborations.
