Ciudad Juárez, April 25, 2026 – Bishop José Guadalupe Torres Campos of the Diocese of Ciudad Juárez announced the assignments of six newly ordained priests to various parishes across the city following their ordination ceremony this Saturday at the Parish of El Señor de la Misericordia.
New Priests Begin Ministry in Six Parishes
The ordination ceremony saw six deacons elevated to the priesthood, marking a significant event for the local Catholic community. Bishop Torres Campos, at the conclusion of the liturgical celebration, revealed the specific parishes where each new priest would serve.
The assignments are as follows:
- Father Alonso Martínez Gutiérrez has been assigned to the Parish of Santa Rosa de Lima.
- Father Christian Alexis García Garza will serve at the Parish of Nuestra Señora del Carmen.
- Father Diego Carreón González has been appointed to the Parish of Nuestra Señora de la Paz.
- Father Guadalupe Daniel Chavira Martínez will minister at the Parish of Nuestra Señora de la Consolación.
- Father Gustavo Valenzuela Lara has been assigned to the Parish of San Pedro de Jesús Maldonado.
- Father Javier Iván Villegas Olivas will serve at the Parish of Santa Teresa de Jesús.
The decision was met with joy and enthusiasm by the families, friends, and faithful who attended the religious ceremony, as well as by various Catholic groups within the community.
Community Celebrations Planned for New Priests
Following the announcement of the appointments, several Catholic organizations have begun organizing celebrations to welcome and support the new presbyters as they embark on their sacerdotal ministries.
Among these, the Worldwide Marriage Encounter movement has extended an invitation to families to participate in a special ‘cantamisa’ (sung Mass) for Father Gustavo Valenzuela Lara. This event is scheduled for April 30 at 7:00 PM at the Santísima Trinidad church, offering an opportunity for the community to join in prayer and celebration with the newly assigned priest.
