FECHAC and San Antonio de Senecú Launch “A Home with a Heart” Project for Seniors in Ciudad Juárez
Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, April 28, 2026 – The Fundación del Empresariado Chihuahuense (FECHAC), in partnership with the San Antonio de Senecú Nursing Home, A. C., has consolidated the “A Home with a Heart” project. This significant initiative, backed by a joint investment of 6.3 million pesos, aims to enhance the quality of life for 60 vulnerable senior citizens in Ciudad Juárez.
Of the total investment, FECHAC is contributing 4.4 million pesos, sourced from the contributions of Chihuahua’s business community. The San Antonio de Senecú Nursing Home is complementing this with 1.8 million pesos, underscoring a shared commitment to this demographic.
Comprehensive Care Model Addresses Senior Vulnerabilities
Juan Carlos Orrantia, president of FECHAC in Juárez, emphasized that this project promotes a comprehensive care model centered on the biopsychosocial well-being of older adults. This effort seeks to address a population grappling with abandonment, health problems, and social isolation-a reality increasingly evident with the aging population in urban areas.
The program encompasses a wide range of services designed to support both the physical and emotional health of its beneficiaries. These include:
- Medical and Nursing Services: Focused on physical health care.
- Nutritional Monitoring: Ensuring proper dietary intake.
- Geriatric Physiotherapy: To maintain and improve mobility.
- Psychological Support: Individual and group sessions to foster emotional stability.
- Recreational Activities: Engaging activities to promote social integration.
- Occupational Workshops: Designed to encourage active participation and a sense of belonging.
- Spaces for Coexistence: Facilitating social interaction among residents.
- Palliative Care and Continuous Accompaniment: Key elements to ensure a dignified quality of life during this stage.
“At FECHAC, we strive to promote projects that strengthen the dignity and quality of life of vulnerable individuals. Supporting organizations that provide comprehensive care for older adults is fundamental to building a more solidary, inclusive, and humane community,” Orrantia stated.
Addressing a Growing Need in Ciudad Juárez
The “A Home with a Heart” project comes at a critical time as Ciudad Juárez, like many urban centers, faces the challenges associated with an aging population. Many seniors experience social isolation and a lack of adequate care, making initiatives like this vital for the community’s well-being.
The collaboration between FECHAC and the San Antonio de Senecú Nursing Home sets a precedent for how private and non-profit sectors can work together to address pressing social needs. By combining financial resources and expertise, they are creating a sustainable model for senior care that prioritizes dignity and holistic support.
The project’s focus on biopsychosocial well-being highlights a modern approach to elder care, recognizing that health extends beyond physical ailments to include mental and emotional states, as well as social connections. This holistic view ensures that the 60 beneficiaries receive well-rounded support tailored to their individual needs.
Local authorities and community leaders have lauded the initiative, recognizing its potential to significantly impact the lives of vulnerable seniors and serve as a model for similar programs across the region.
