Mexico City Congress Adjusts Implementation Timeline for New Civil and Family Procedural Code
Mexico City, April 30, 2026 – To ensure the effective administration of justice and meet the needs of the population, the Mexico City Congress announced today that the implementation schedule for the new Civil and Family Procedural Code will be adjusted. The announcement was made by Deputy Alberto Martínez Urincho, President of the Commission for Administration and Justice Procurement, and Magistrate Rafael Guerra Álvarez, President of the Superior Court of Justice of Mexico City (TSJCDMX).
During a press conference, Magistrate Guerra Álvarez recalled that on May 29, 2025, a request was made to the Legislative Plenary to modify the declaration of validity of the Code. This modification aimed to extend the second stage of implementation and consolidate the results of the first stage.
New Implementation Date Set for April 2027
With these adjustments, the new proposed date for the entry into force of the Civil and Family Procedural Code of Mexico City will be April 1, 2027. The Magistrate emphasized that the new judicial system was created to standardize procedures and bring justice closer to those who need it most. “We have chosen to take firm steps, without rushing,” Guerra Álvarez stated.
Legislative Commission to Continue Review
Deputy Alberto Martínez Urincho affirmed that the Commission he heads will continue to review the necessary legislative adaptations to strengthen the procurement and administration of justice.
