Ciudad Juárez, May 12 – An abandoned house in the San Antonio neighborhood of Ciudad Juárez was set on fire on Monday night, May 11, prompting an emergency response from local authorities and residents. The incident occurred at the intersection of Luxembourg and Murcia streets.

Police and Neighbors Attempt to Control Blaze

According to initial reports from authorities, residents of the area contacted the 911 emergency number after witnessing two men enter the rear of the abandoned property. Minutes later, flames were observed engulfing the structure, leading to calls for official assistance.

First responders, including elements of the Municipal Public Security Secretariat, arrived at the scene. They, along with neighbors, made efforts to extinguish the fire using buckets of water. However, the flames had already grown out of control, necessitating further assistance.

Fire Department Deploys Resources

Subsequently, two fire engines and a tanker truck from the Heroic Fire Department were dispatched to the location. Firefighters undertook the necessary operations to bring the blaze under control and prevent its spread to adjacent homes. Their swift action was crucial in containing the fire within the abandoned property.

No Injuries or Arrests Reported

Authorities confirmed that there were no reported injuries to individuals, nor any damage to neighboring residences as a result of the fire. As of the latest update, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but initial reports suggest it was intentionally set.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding abandoned properties and their potential for attracting illicit activities or becoming hazards within urban communities. Local authorities continue to monitor such locations and encourage residents to report any suspicious activities.

The quick response from both residents and emergency services played a vital role in preventing a potentially more widespread and destructive event in the San Antonio neighborhood.
