MEXICO CITY. With the goal of providing legal certainty to thousands of Poblanos living in the capital, Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier inaugurated the Puebla Civil Registry Attention Module at the House of Representation, located at Paseo de la Reforma number 373.
Identity as a Priority for the Government of Alejandro Armenta Mier
“The first human right is life and the second is identity,” affirmed the governor, explaining that the opening of this office responds to the intention of strengthening citizen attention. This initiative is in line with the functions of the “Por Amor a Puebla” Houses of Representation located in Los Angeles, California; the Bronx, New York; Passaic, New Jersey; and Chicago, Illinois, which aim to provide efficient services to Poblanos abroad.
Essential Services for Poblanos in Mexico City
Armenta Mier stressed that when a person lacks an identification document, they face limitations in fully exercising their rights. Therefore, he highlighted that this module allows the State Government to bring services closer to the population and guarantee the right to identity through fundamental procedures.
Nora Esquitín de la Madrid, Director of the Civil Status Registry of Persons, reported that the new Attention Module will allow Poblanos to carry out various procedures, including:
- Data verification in birth, death, and marriage certificates.
- Issuance of birth, marriage, and divorce certificates.
- Administrative and judicial clarifications.
She also emphasized that the space will provide guidance on immigration procedures and support for using the miregistrocivil.gob.mx portal, with the objective of facilitating online procedures and offering more agile and accessible services to the population.
Strengthening Dignity and Building a More Just Society
Finally, the Director of the Civil Status Registry of Persons highlighted that the right to identity is the gateway to fundamental services such as education, health, employment, and social programs, in addition to guaranteeing the full exercise of citizenship. She underscored that having legal identity strengthens people’s dignity and contributes to building a more just and inclusive society.
