Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua – A man and a nine-year-old girl were injured yesterday afternoon in an armed attack outside a primary school in Ciudad Juarez. The incident, which took place as the man was leaving the educational facility, prompted a swift and extensive security operation in the area.

Details of the Attack and Injuries

According to initial reports, the aggression occurred when the victim, who was in a vehicle, had just picked up a nine-year-old girl. It is presumed that the assailants had been following him and opened fire outside the school premises on Valentín Fuentes Avenue.

After the attack, the man attempted to flee but was injured inside his vehicle. During his escape, he lost control and collided with a family van, resulting in additional injuries. In total, four people were reported injured in the incident, including the man and the minor who had just left classes.

Immediate Response and Security Operation

The attack triggered an immediate and extensive mobilization of security forces. Elements of the state police, municipal police, and ministerial agents were deployed to the scene, which is located near a maquiladora (assembly plant). Several blocks were cordoned off, and a helicopter was seen overflying the area in search of the gunmen.

Authorities considered a possible evacuation of the nearby maquiladora due to the proximity of the incident and the potential for further danger, though no evacuation was ultimately carried out. The swift response aimed to secure the area and prevent any further escalation of violence.

Investigation Underway

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and authorities have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about violence in Mexico, particularly in regions like Ciudad Juarez.

This event follows other recent incidents of violence in the country, including a mother’s desperate plea during a shootout in Culiacán and the discovery of a body in Tlaxcala being investigated in connection with a disappearance from a Puebla aesthetic clinic. The national context of security challenges continues to be a prominent issue.

Further details regarding the condition of the injured and the progress of the investigation are expected to be released by the authorities as they become available.
