🦇 CDMX Bat Camp: Night Adventures You WON’T BELIEVE! 😱

Okay, so Mexico City isn’t just about tacos and parties! Get ready for the coolest (and maybe a little spooky) experience this season: the CDMX Bat Camp! 🦇

Imagine this: the sun sets, birds go quiet, and suddenly, the real rulers of the night – BATS – start to appear! This isn’t your grandma’s nature walk; it’s a full-on scientific adventure with nocturnal tours, wildlife observation, and environmental activities deep in the forest. If you’re not scared, you HAVE to check it out! 😉

Where’s the magic happening? ✨

This epic experience goes down at the Ecoguardas Environmental Culture Center. It’s one of the most original plans to discover a totally different side of our beloved CDMX!

Why are bats SO important? 🦇🌳

Forget the scary myths and vampire movies! Bats are actually SUPER important for Mexico’s ecosystems. They’re natural pollinators, they help spread seeds, and they even control insect pests! Basically, a huge chunk of our forests and plants depend on these amazing creatures. Mind. Blown. 🤯

During the tour, experts will spill all the tea on how bats live, how they navigate in the dark, and their crucial role in keeping the city’s environment balanced. Plus, they’re busting all those bad bat myths! 👏

What’s included in this wild night? 🏕️🔍

Get ready for:

  • Nocturnal wildlife observation 🦉
  • Bat monitoring (how cool is that?!) 🦇
  • Guided tours 🚶♀️
  • An actual campout in the forest! 🌲

The monitoring tour runs from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and costs about 83 pesos per person. Beyond just spotting bats, the program includes environmental activities and dynamics focused on conservation and ecological education. So, you’ll learn a ton while having a blast!

Why should you go? 🤔

CDMX is usually all about concerts, museums, and city nightlife, right? But these Bat Nights are drawing in people who want something more chill and connected to nature. It’s like a secret plan that exists in a totally different city than the chaotic capital we all know. Just lanterns, trees, silence, and the sound of wings in the sky. Pure magic! ✨

How to get there (and what to bring!) 🚗💨

The Ecoguardas Environmental Culture Center is in the south of Mexico City, in one of Tlalpan’s forested areas. The easiest way to get there is by car via Picacho-Ajusco highway. You can also get there from Periférico Sur or Six Flags by taking public transport towards the Ajusco area.

Since it’s a night event, authorities recommend arriving early, wearing warm clothes, and comfy shoes for walking in the forest. Don’t forget your sense of adventure! 🎒

Dates and Costs (Mark your calendars!) 🗓️💸

The camp will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Ecoguardas Environmental Culture Center.

  • Bat Monitoring Tour: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
  • Tour Cost: 83 pesos per person
  • Overnight Camp: 5:00 PM to 7:30 AM the next day
  • Camp Cost: 302 pesos for two people

This awesome activity is organized by the CDMX Ministry of Environment as part of their environmental education and conservation programs. So you know it’s legit and for a good cause! 💚
