El Paso and Ciudad Juárez to Host 3rd Binational Council Meeting

EL PASO, Texas – The City of El Paso and the Municipal Government of Ciudad Juárez have announced they will co-host the 3rd Binational Council Meeting in June. This event marks a continuation of their collaborative efforts to strengthen the relationship between the neighboring border communities and advance shared regional priorities.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, at 2 p.m., and will take place at the El Paso Convention Center, located at 1 Civic Center Plaza. Following the council meeting, Ciudad Juárez will host a reception, which is expected to begin around 5 p.m.

Focus on Cross-Border Cooperation and Economic Integration

The Binational Council Meeting serves as a crucial platform, bringing together elected officials, leadership, and key stakeholders from both cities. The primary objective is to discuss opportunities for continued cooperation on various issues that significantly impact the Paso del Norte region.

Discussions are anticipated to center on several key areas, including strengthening cross-border coordination, supporting economic integration, and aligning strategic initiatives that are designed to benefit residents on both sides of the border.

El Paso Mayor Renard U. Johnson emphasized the deep connection between the two cities. “El Paso and Ciudad Juárez share more than a border. We share families, culture, commerce, and a deeply connected regional economy,” Mayor Johnson stated. “This meeting reflects our continued commitment to working together to address common challenges, strengthen regional partnerships, and create opportunities that benefit our entire binational community.”

Officials from both cities are expected to actively participate in these discussions, with the aim of enhancing collaboration and reinforcing the long-standing relationship that defines El Paso and Ciudad Juárez as one of the most interconnected binational regions globally.

A Dynamic Binational Region

Ciudad Juárez Mayor Cruz Pérez Cuéllar echoed Mayor Johnson’s sentiments, highlighting the importance of their ongoing partnership. “Ciudad Juárez and El Paso are part of one dynamic binational region, and our continued collaboration is essential to our shared success,” Mayor Pérez Cuéllar affirmed. “Through this council, we are strengthening the dialogue, coordination, and partnerships needed to advance priorities that improve quality of life and support economic growth for both communities.”

Both the meeting and the subsequent reception are open to the public, underscoring the commitment of both municipal governments to transparency and community engagement in these vital binational discussions.

The Binational Council Meeting serves as a testament to the enduring partnership between El Paso and Ciudad Juárez, aiming to foster a more prosperous and integrated future for the entire Paso del Norte region.
