Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, May 27, 2026 – In a significant effort to promote dialogue and conflict resolution among young people, the State Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms (CEMASC) successfully hosted its inaugural student forum in Ciudad Juárez. Titled “CEMASC Dialogues: Student Edition – Building Agreements for a Culture of Peace,” the event brought together approximately 150 students from various educational institutions to engage with expert professionals.
Forum Fosters Dialogue and Peace Culture
The forum, held at the auditorium of the State Human Rights Commission (CEDH), saw participation from students of URN High School, Cultural High School, Instituto Cultural Andaroen, and Instituto Vicentino Secondary School. These students actively participated in dialogue tables, discussing crucial topics related to mediation and conflict resolution.
Daniel Terrazas Parada, Director General of CEMASC, emphasized the importance of the initiative, urging the young attendees to seize the opportunity to learn from specialists and clarify any doubts regarding the promotion of a culture of mediation and conflict resolution.
“To dialogue is to build bridges towards a more humane, conscious, and peaceful society,” stated Terrazas Parada, underscoring the core objective of the forum.
Engaging Activities for Students
The event featured a series of activities and talks designed to create channels of communication and collaboration. A primary goal was to familiarize students and their families with the valuable work carried out by CEMASC in fostering peaceful resolutions to disputes. By engaging directly with the youth, CEMASC aims to embed the principles of mediation and conflict resolution deeply within the community.
CEMASC’s Broader Mission
CEMASC, as an institution, plays a vital role in providing alternative mechanisms for dispute resolution, thereby reducing the burden on traditional judicial systems and promoting a more harmonious society. This student-focused initiative is part of a broader strategy to educate the public, starting from a young age, about the benefits of peaceful negotiation and understanding.
The successful turnout of 150 students indicates a keen interest among the youth of Ciudad Juárez in engaging with topics that contribute to social well-being and conflict prevention. Such forums are instrumental in equipping future generations with the skills necessary to navigate disagreements constructively and build a more peaceful environment.
This event marks a significant step for CEMASC in its mission to cultivate a culture of peace and dialogue, particularly among the student population, ensuring that the principles of mediation and conflict resolution are widely understood and adopted.
