Alleged Cartel Leader ‘El Comandante Nico’ Arrested in Ciudad Juarez
Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico – June 20, 2026 – State authorities in Ciudad Juarez have apprehended Nicolás P. V., alias ‘El Nico’ or ‘El Comandante Nico,’ an alleged criminal leader linked to the Juarez Cartel. He is considered one of the primary generators of violence in the Valle de Juarez region.
The arrest took place on Friday, June 19, during a surveillance operation at the intersection of Gómez Morín Boulevard and Faraday Street in the Partido Senecú neighborhood. The 26-year-old suspect, originally from El Porvenir, was traveling in a black Audi with Texas license plates. He was accompanied by two women, Iraís R. A., 35, and Anabel C., 20, both from El Paso.
Significant Arsenal Seized During Arrest
During the vehicle inspection, law enforcement officers discovered a substantial cache of weapons. The arsenal included six long guns: five .223 caliber rifles and one 7.62×39 millimeter rifle. Additionally, loaded magazines and ammunition designated for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces were secured.
‘El Comandante Nico’ a Priority Target for Authorities
According to the State Public Security Secretariat, ‘El Comandante Nico’ had been a priority target since February, with an ongoing operation dedicated to his location and apprehension. Authorities identify him as a crucial figure in a criminal group that has exerted significant pressure on communities within the Valle de Juarez.
Following his arrest, Nicolás P. V. and his two companions were handed over to the competent authorities for further investigation. They are being investigated for their potential involvement in crimes related to violations of the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives.
This capture is part of broader security initiatives implemented in the border region aimed at reducing violence and dismantling criminal organizations. Authorities have emphasized their commitment to continuing operations in the area to identify and apprehend other members of criminal groups.
