ISSSTE Conducts 724 Free Mammograms in Mexico City Campaign
Mexico City, July 10 – The Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), under the direction of Martí Batres Guadarrama, successfully concluded a 16-day free mammography campaign in the southern part of Mexico City. A total of 724 studies were performed, aiming to facilitate early detection of breast cancer among women in the region.
Collaborative Effort for Women’s Health
This initiative was made possible through a collaborative agreement between the ISSSTE’s Deputy Directorate for Prevention and Health Promotion, the Chichihualli Foundation, and the Mexico City Health Secretariat. The campaign targeted women aged 49 to 60 and utilized a mobile mammography unit that visited various ISSSTE facilities in southern Mexico City.
Nintzita Suárez Bonilla, the medical sub-delegate for Mexico City’s southern zone, underscored the importance of such actions in preventing and detecting potential abnormalities. She emphasized that these efforts contribute significantly to the early detection of cancer, allowing for timely treatment and increasing the chances of eradicating the disease.
“The benefits of these types of campaigns are that they seek to strengthen actions for the prevention and timely detection of breast cancer, by bringing mammography services closer to the female beneficiaries. Early detection allows for timely treatment, improves the prognosis of patients, and helps reduce mortality associated with this disease,” Suárez Bonilla stated.
Comprehensive Support and Follow-up
The campaign involved technical personnel dedicated to performing the mammograms, as well as a support team responsible for organization, registration, and guidance to ensure smooth logistics and care for all participants. Following the delivery of results, ISSSTE personnel will provide necessary guidance for medical follow-up, if required.
This campaign is part of the ongoing prevention strategies under the Second Floor of the Fourth Transformation, led by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. The ISSSTE aims to expand coverage and bring these vital services to a greater number of women across the country.
The free mammography jornada focused on reaching women in a mobile unit, making it accessible to a wider population. The collaboration with the Chichihualli Foundation and the local Health Secretariat highlights a unified effort to address public health concerns.
The 724 mammograms represent a significant step in promoting preventative health measures and reducing the impact of breast cancer. The emphasis on early detection is crucial for improving patient outcomes and overall public health.
The success of this campaign underscores the commitment of the ISSSTE and its partners to the well-being of the community, particularly in providing essential health services that might otherwise be inaccessible to many.
