Mexico City, July 13, 2026 – The Mexico City Congress has actively promoted gender perspective and women’s human rights through a series of training and awareness activities. From February 1 to May 31 of this year, the local Legislative Power, through the Legislative Studies Center for Gender Equality (CELIG), organized seven significant events.
These initiatives, aimed at both Congress staff and the general public, focused on women’s human rights, substantive equality, and gender perspective. The activities encompassed a diverse range of formats, including musical performances, book discussions, film debates, conferences, and workshops.
CELIG’s Ongoing Commitment to Equality
CELIG, under the direction of Alin Mara López Ledezma, consistently organizes courses, workshops, and cultural activities on topics related to women, sexual and gender diversity, and other priority groups. This commitment is part of its ongoing mission to foster inclusive and equitable environments.
During the Second Ordinary Period of Sessions of the Second Year of the current Legislature, CELIG conducted seven specific activities. Six of these were held in observance of International Women’s Day on March 8, while one focused on the LGBTTTIQ+ community.
