The Mexico City Metro’s Canine Transfer Center (CTC) is marking its ninth year of operation this Saturday, July 18, 2026. This unique facility, located near the El Rosario station, provides temporary shelter for dogs rescued from the Metro’s electrified tracks and other installations.
How to Help the Canine Transfer Center (CTC)
The STC Metro is calling on the public to support the CTC’s vital work. There are several ways you can contribute:
1. Adopt a Dog
The CTC offers an opportunity to give a rescued dog a loving home. In the past year (July 2025 to July 2026), 107 dogs found new families through adoption, and 12 were reunited with their owners. Each dog entering the CTC receives comprehensive veterinary care, food, hygiene, vaccinations, sterilization, and a socialization program to prepare them for adoption.

2. Donate Food and Supplies
The CTC relies on altruistic support from individuals and groups to cover the needs of the rescued animals. Donations of food, medicine, and other care items are greatly appreciated.

3. Volunteer Your Time

About the Canine Transfer Center
Since its inauguration in July 2017, the CTC has been a cornerstone of animal welfare in Mexico City. It is a unique facility globally, dedicated to the rescue and care of dogs found within the Metro system. The rescue operations are a coordinated effort between the Transportation and Civil Protection departments of the Institutional Security Management, ensuring the safety and specialized attention for these animals.
