Alleged Leader of ‘Los Mexicles’ Criminal Group Arrested in Ciudad Juarez with $836,000 in Cash

Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, July 22, 2026 – The Chihuahua State Attorney General’s Office has confirmed the arrest of Gerardo “N”, 33, in Ciudad Juarez. He is identified as the alleged leader of the criminal group “Los Mexicles” and a significant generator of violence in the region. The operation, which led to his capture, also resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of cash, firearms, and drugs.

Operation in a Luxury Residential Area

Elements of the Chihuahua Attorney General’s Office conducted an operation in the upscale residential area known as Bosques de Senecú in Ciudad Juarez. Authorities successfully located and apprehended Gerardo “N”, who was attempting to maintain a low profile within a luxurious property valued at over 13 million pesos.

Details of the Arrest and Seizures

During the raid on the residence, agents found the suspect alongside his romantic partner. A search of the property yielded significant findings: eight short firearms, doses of illicit drugs, and a total of 836,000 pesos in cash. This money is believed to be derived from illegal activities conducted in the border region of the state.

Who are ‘Los Mexicles’?

According to state prosecutor’s office records, Gerardo “N” served as the primary leader of the gang known as “Los Mexicles.” This criminal group, a major source of violence, operates in direct alliance with the Gente Nueva faction and the Sinaloa Cartel. Their activities primarily involve controlling drug sales and other high-impact crimes in the northern part of Chihuahua.

Succession to Leadership

Gerardo “N” assumed leadership of the criminal organization following the death of Jesús Eduardo Soto Rodríguez, also known as “El Lalo.” “El Lalo” was apprehended by authorities in Juarez in 2020 and subsequently transferred to a federal penitentiary in the state of Chiapas, leading to a restructuring of the gang’s command.

Transfer to Federal Authorities

Given the nature of the case, involving organized crime and the seized items, Gerardo “N” was transported under a secure escort. The state prosecutor’s office has placed him at the disposal of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR), which will determine the next steps for the alleged leader of “Los Mexicles.”

The arrest of Gerardo “N” represents a significant blow to the criminal infrastructure operating in Ciudad Juarez and the wider Chihuahua region, as authorities continue their efforts to dismantle organized crime networks and reduce violence in the area.
