Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico – The inauguration of three new sports courts, built under the Social World Cup program, is scheduled for next Tuesday in the Sierra Vista, Horizontes del Sur, and Aztecas neighborhoods. This was announced by Sebastián Aguilera, Director of Citizen Participation, who confirmed that all seven courts constructed across the city are now completed, though one requires additional complementary work before its official handover.
Seven Courts Completed, Three Ready for Inauguration
Aguilera stated, “Of the seven courts built in the city, all are now complete. Three are on State Government property and four on municipal land.” The upcoming inauguration event will see the participation of authorities from the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu) and the Municipal Government.
Community Spaces for Public Use
The Director further detailed that three of the courts were built on land owned by the State Government, while the remaining four are on municipal properties. He explained that one of the courts will not be delivered in this initial phase due to ongoing construction work.
Aguilera emphasized that the primary goal is for these new spaces to be actively used and maintained by the community, with continuous support from municipal departments. “The idea is for the citizenry to appropriate these spaces. Both Parks and Gardens and the Municipal Sports Institute will be conducting constant patrols to keep them in good condition and encourage their use,” he concluded.
The Social World Cup program aims to provide accessible sports facilities to residents, fostering community engagement and promoting healthy lifestyles.
