Federal Government Strengthens Home Healthcare for Seniors in Ciudad Juárez
CIUDAD JUÁREZ, Mexico (KINT) – The federal government is reinforcing its ‘Salud Casa por Casa’ (Health Home by Home) program in Ciudad Juárez, focusing on providing direct support to seniors and individuals with disabilities. This initiative involves over 260 federal healthcare workers who conduct preventive medical check-ups for beneficiaries directly in their homes.
“Here in the Juárez region, we have carried out 181,212 preventive medical visits directly in homes. It is important to remember that the program serves all beneficiaries of the welfare pension for seniors and people with disabilities,” stated a program representative.
Educational Support and Decreased Demand for Repatriation Services
In addition to healthcare, students at various educational levels, from primary to high school, are receiving economic scholarships to prevent school dropout. “Basic education, covered by the Rita Cetina Abarca program, includes primary and secondary levels. Those transitioning to high school, which is upper secondary, must re-register, as the program name changes, and the card is no longer in the name of the mother or guardian, but in the student’s name,” explained Isabel Lucero.
The ‘México Te Abraza’ (Mexico Embraces You) program, dedicated to supporting Mexican nationals deported from the United States through this border, has seen a decrease in demand for its services, although it remains active. “Since its inception, the program has received 23,594 people. As you have noticed, the arrival of people by land through this border municipality has significantly decreased,” added the welfare delegate.
Despite only one person currently requesting the services of this migrant support center, the welfare delegate assured that it would remain open and attentive to a possible increase in requests from repatriated individuals through this border.
