CIUDAD JUAREZ, Chih. – Two individuals have been apprehended following a high-speed chase that included gunfire directed at municipal police officers. The incident, which began with a domestic dispute, concluded with a vehicle crash and arrests, according to reports from the Municipal Public Security Secretariat.

Details of the Incident Unfold

The events transpired when municipal agents, conducting surveillance in the Rincones de Salvarcar neighborhood, observed a couple allegedly engaged in an altercation inside a gray Ford Fusion. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle at the intersection of Atlantico and Antartida streets.

Upon intervention, the driver reportedly attempted to bribe the officers to avoid legal action. When informed that this constituted a crime, the driver accelerated, initiating a pursuit.

Gunfire Exchanged During Pursuit

During the chase, the driver allegedly fired shots at the pursuing officers, who returned fire, citing concerns for their safety and the safety of others. The pursuit culminated at the intersection of Hacienda El Paraiso and Libramiento Regional, where the suspect’s vehicle collided with another unit.

Following the crash, the driver attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers. It was noted that the driver sustained injuries and was subsequently transported to a hospital for medical attention, remaining under custody.

Second Arrest and Charges

The female passenger was also detained after allegedly attempting to obstruct police work and behaving aggressively towards the officers.

The arrested individuals have been identified as José Alfredo H. R., 27, who faces charges of attempted homicide, property damage, and domestic violence. Yobana T. V., also 27, was arrested for alleged disobedience and resisting authorities.

Authorities recovered a 9mm pistol with an empty magazine and a tactical bag containing 10 live .45 caliber cartridges at the scene. Investigations are underway to determine if the firearm has been used in other criminal activities within the city.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in Ciudad Juarez to address both domestic disputes and serious criminal activity, often intertwined in complex scenarios.
