Mexico City, August 15 – A 20-meter construction crane boom collapsed on Saturday, August 15, in the Iztacalco borough of Mexico City (CDMX), injuring one person. The incident occurred around 4:00 PM in a private area of Agua Caliente, prompting a significant response from Civil Protection and fire department personnel.

According to the Secretariat of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC CDMX), the boom was being used for excavation maneuvers when it collapsed. The injured individual’s condition has not been specified.

Emergency services, including Civil Protection and firefighters, quickly arrived at the scene in the Agua Caliente neighborhood of Iztacalco. The collapsed boom, approximately 20 meters in length, was a key component of a crane engaged in excavation work.

The SGIRPC CDMX confirmed the details of the incident, stating that the collapse led to one person sustaining injuries. The immediate area was secured as rescue and assessment operations commenced.

  • August 14: A woman died in Huixquilucan, State of Mexico, when a structure collapsed onto her car on Vialidad de la Barranca, Paseo Interlomas. A concrete mixer reportedly struck the structure, causing it to fall. The driver was trapped and pronounced dead at the scene by medical services.
  • August 11: A building collapsed on the side of Viaducto Miguel Alemán during demolition work. A 24-year-old man passing by in his vehicle sustained minor injuries in this accident.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crane boom collapse in Iztacalco. Further updates on the injured person’s condition and the investigation are expected.
