Mexico City, August 17 – The Mexico City Congress launched its ‘Citizen Political Training Workshop’ today, an initiative designed to empower young participants with essential skills for active public engagement. The workshop, running every Monday and Friday until August 28, is a collaborative effort between the Disruptivo Político collective and Deputy Omar Alejandro García Loria, Vice-coordinator of the PRI Parliamentary Group.
Program ‘Contracorriente: Método Disruptivo 2026’ Inaugurated
Held in the “Nelson Mandela” Hall, the opening session saw about twenty young individuals participate in the “Contracorriente: Método Disruptivo 2026” training program. This program is part of the “Juventudes Autogestivas para la Transformación 2026-1” social initiative by the Mexico City Youth Institute, in coordination with the local Legislative Branch.
The primary goal of this training program is to bolster young people’s research capabilities, information analysis, written communication, and professional projection. This comprehensive approach aims to foster informed and active participation among the youth in public life, ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute meaningfully to societal development.
Transparency as a Core Theme
The inaugural session focused on the critical topic of transparency, specifically within social and governmental spheres. Discussions underscored the importance for citizens to understand their rights and to hold authorities accountable for fulfilling their responsibilities. This theoretical and practical workshop emphasized that an informed citizenry is crucial for a functioning democracy.
Joselin Solares Otero, General Secretary of the Disruptivo Político collective, and Pavel Israel Zugaide Pimentel, a legislative advisor, led the session. They highlighted that the workshop originated from an initiative to strengthen citizen participation through the dedicated work and support of various collectives. Both emphasized the significance of public access to information, while also acknowledging that certain information might be reserved by authorities if its dissemination could compromise social peace.
