Chihuahua, Chih. – The Chihuahua State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) located three human skeletons buried in clandestine graves inside a house allegedly used by hitmen, in the Adolfo López Mateos neighborhood of Ciudad Juárez. The property was inspected as part of an ongoing investigation into missing persons.

Investigation Leads to Discovery of Clandestine Graves

Following up on a missing persons investigation, the Public Ministry of the Unit for Absent and/or Unlocated Persons of the Northern Zone District Attorney’s Office executed a search warrant on Wednesday, August 20, 2026, at the property located at 3067 José Covarrubias Street. During the search, three human skeletons were found.

Joint Operation Involves Multiple Agencies

Ministerial actions involved the participation of agents from the State Investigation Agency (AEI), a K-9 canine unit, specialized personnel from the Directorate of Expert Services and Forensic Sciences, as well as elements of the Mexican Army and the National Guard. The objective was to locate evidence that would contribute to the ongoing investigation.

During the inspection and processing of the property, which included probing with a metal bar, two clandestine graves were discovered. In the first grave, two skeletons of undetermined sex were found, while the second grave contained one additional skeleton, also of undetermined sex.

Forensic Analysis Underway to Identify Victims

The skeletons have been transferred to the Forensic Medical Service to undergo corresponding analyses. These analyses aim to determine the cause and temporality of death, as well as to establish the identity of the victims. The FGE continues its efforts to shed light on the circumstances surrounding these discoveries and to bring justice to the families of the missing persons.

The discovery underscores the persistent challenges faced by authorities in addressing the issue of clandestine burials and disappeared individuals in the region. Investigations are ongoing to determine any connections between the property and organized crime activities, as well as to identify those responsible for these illicit burials.
