INJUVE-Coordinated Initiative Fosters Youth Engagement
The initiative, coordinated by the Mexico City Youth Institute (INJUVE), in collaboration with the Secretariat of Culture and the UTOPÍAS Coordination, aimed to create public spaces for young people to exercise their rights and offer alternatives for encounter, expression, learning, and participation.
During its 17 days of activities, the ‘Youth Festival’ at UTOPÍA Mixiuhca stood out. Held from August 13th to 16th, it registered over 18,000 attendees and featured more than 90 activities. The festival saw the participation of 115 programs, organizations, and institutions, and was supported by 17 agencies of the Mexico City Government and two autonomous public bodies.
Diverse Programming Reaches Peripheral Boroughs
The program also included the ‘Youth Festival’ in the Network of FAROS and Cultural Centers of the Secretariat of Culture and the circuit of dialogue tables and special programs of Código 21, reaching over 7,000 young people, including those from peripheral boroughs such as Tláhuac and Milpa Alta. Additionally, ‘Warriomanía: Electronic Music Festival’ gathered 2,500 participants at UTOPIA Mixiuhca.
With this programming, the Mexico City Government reaffirms its commitment to building accessible public spaces for young people to exercise their rights, develop their capacities, and actively participate in the cultural and community life of the capital.
