Mexico City, September 14 – Elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) and the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), in conjunction with the Secretariat of Administration and Finance (SAF) of Mexico City, secured approximately 6,900 adult intimate items and toys in the Cuauhtémoc borough. The estimated value of the confiscated merchandise exceeds 2 million pesos.
Operation in the Historic Center Targets Illicit Trade
The operation took place inside an establishment located in Callejón Flamencos, in the Centro neighborhood. The local business was found to be offering various sexual products without the official documentation to accredit their legal purchase and importation into the national territory.
As a result of the inspection, authorities secured a total of 110 cardboard boxes and 128 black plastic bags containing the material. According to initial appraisals, the total number of items amounts to approximately 6,900 units, valued at 2,070,000 pesos.
Custody and Transfer of Goods for Legal Procedures
Once the diligence was concluded, the packages were sealed by SSC officers to ensure their safekeeping. Subsequently, the merchandise was transferred to the SAF facilities, located in the Iztacalco borough, to proceed with the corresponding legal and administrative procedures.
While there were no arrests made during the operation, the significant seizure highlights ongoing efforts by Mexico City authorities to combat illicit trade and ensure compliance with regulations regarding the sale and import of goods. The lack of proper documentation for the seized items underscores the challenges faced in regulating certain markets.
