Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office Investigates Agent for Attempted Femicide of Wife
Mexico City, September 22 – The Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (FGJ CDMX) has confirmed it is investigating agent Erick Suarez for attempted femicide against his wife, who is also a police officer. The alleged incident occurred on September 16.
According to initial reports, agent Erick Suarez allegedly brutally beat his wife after locking her in their home. The victim, also an agent, subsequently filed a complaint. The FGJ CDMX stated that the State of Mexico Prosecutor’s Office is also conducting an investigation into the matter, as the events transpired in Ecatepec, State of Mexico.
Details of the Allegations
The investigation by the FGJ CDMX is being carried out by its Internal Affairs department. While the Mexico City authorities will monitor the case, the criminal investigation will be handled by their counterparts in the State of Mexico due to the location of the incident.
Although the FGJ CDMX did not disclose the victim’s current health status, it was reported that in addition to being beaten, she sustained a gunshot wound to the leg while attempting to escape. The prosecutor’s office also did not address accusations that the alleged assailant, Erick Suarez, might be receiving protection from Jesus Alfredo Morales Rocha, a Group Head in the Directorate of Territorial Prosecutor’s Offices.

It is understood that in the early hours of September 16, Erick Suarez allegedly assaulted his wife at their home in Ecatepec, firing at least one shot at her leg. As of now, the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico has not issued any public statement regarding the investigation or a potential arrest of Erick Suarez.

This case adds to a series of incidents of attempted femicide and gender-based violence reported in Mexico.
