Mexico City’s Condesa Clinic in GAM Reaches 60% Completion, Set to be Largest in the Americas
Mexico City, September 28, 2026 – The Head of Government of Mexico City (CDMX), Clara Brugada, announced a 60% completion rate for the new Condesa Specialized Clinic in the Gustavo A. Madero (GAM) borough. This facility, the third of its kind in the capital, is projected to be the largest specialized care center for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the Americas.
Brugada Molina highlighted that the project represents an investment exceeding 85 million pesos and is being developed on an 8,000-square-meter plot of land. “We can say that we are witnessing a work that will become the most modern, most important, and largest in America,” emphasized the official.
Before concluding her speech, the local executive called for a social effort to eradicate the stigma against patients of these centers. “May no one again feel ashamed to ask for help; afraid to get tested; or rejected for being who they are,” she stated.
Construction to Conclude in November, Inauguration on World AIDS Day
Raúl Basulto Luviano, head of the Secretariat of Works and Services (Sobse), detailed that construction currently exceeds 60% completion. He anticipates that work will conclude by the third week of November, with the aim of inaugurating the facility on December 1, coinciding with World AIDS Day.
The complex comprises four sustainable buildings that incorporate extensive green areas and a rainwater harvesting system. In total, it will feature 38 consulting rooms and 17 specialized services for prevention and sexual health. Additionally, users will have completely free access to screening tests, antiretroviral treatment, pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP and PEP), and specialized care for sexual diversity.
A significant highlight of the project will be its robust laboratory building, spanning over 1,000 square meters. This central space will handle hematology, blood chemistry, and viral load count tests. Furthermore, it will house the first tuberculosis laboratory located within an HIV clinic in the metropolis.
Mauricio López Manning, Undersecretary of Public Health, explained that the project has a metropolitan vision that will also benefit patients from the State of Mexico. Currently, the system serves over 26,000 people with HIV, complementing its work with various proximity Condesa Stations.
Janecarlo Lozano Reynoso, mayor of GAM, celebrated the decision to bring this major infrastructure to the city’s periphery, a historically underserved area.
The new Condesa Clinic aims to provide comprehensive and accessible care, reinforcing Mexico City’s commitment to public health and the fight against STIs, particularly HIV. The facility’s advanced infrastructure and wide range of services are expected to significantly improve the quality of life for thousands of individuals in the region.
