12 Kidnapped Migrants Rescued in Ciudad Juarez; Search for Perpetrators Underway

Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. On the night of January 7th, a group of 12 migrants, including minors, were rescued from an illegal confinement in a home in the Bellavista neighborhood of Ciudad Juarez. The individuals, of various nationalities, had been held captive with the intent of illegally crossing them into the United States. Authorities have launched an active search operation to locate the alleged kidnappers.

Swift Police Action Leads to Rescue

The rescue operation began when state police officers, conducting tactical reinforcement and surveillance patrols, received an emergency call via the 911 line. The report indicated a possible illegal deprivation of liberty in the Bellavista neighborhood.

Upon arriving at the designated address on Ignacio Mejia street, officers observed a woman signaling for help from a window. This immediate and visible sign of distress prompted a rapid intervention, prioritizing the safety and well-being of the individuals inside.

Diverse Group of Migrants Among the Rescued

During the police action, authorities confirmed the presence of seven Mexican nationals and five foreign individuals, some of whom were minors. All were being held against their will. The area was secured, and the immediate rescue of the victims was carried out.

Following their rescue, the 12 individuals were transported to the facilities of the State Public Security Secretariat. There, they received medical evaluations to ascertain their state of health and physical integrity. Subsequently, they were referred to the National Institute of Migration to receive appropriate attention and support services.

Search Continues for Perpetrators

While the alleged kidnappers were not found at the scene during the rescue, an extensive search and active tracking operation has been deployed. The objective of this ongoing operation is to locate and apprehend those responsible for the kidnapping.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by migrants attempting to cross the border and the dangers they encounter at the hands of criminal organizations. Authorities continue to work to combat human trafficking and ensure the safety of vulnerable individuals.
