CIUDAD JUAREZ, Chih. – State and federal authorities conducted two raids at different locations in Ciudad Juarez as part of an investigation into illegal deprivation of liberty and aggravated homicide. These operations led to the seizure of exotic animals, a vehicle, and various pieces of evidence crucial to the case.
Surprising Discoveries During Homicide Investigation
According to the State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE), the operations took place on Thursday, August 6, with the participation of elements from the National Guard, the Mexican Army, and the State Investigation Agency (AEI).
The first raid was carried out at a car wash business located in the 16 de Septiembre neighborhood. There, authorities made a surprising discovery: a caged Bengal tiger, an alligator, and four dogs. A Hummer H3 truck, allegedly linked to the investigated events, was also secured at this location.
Homicide Scene Identified in Second Raid
Subsequently, agents conducted a second diligence at a home in the Álvaro Obregón neighborhood, which is believed to be the property where the homicide occurred. During the inspection, various pieces of evidence were found, including blood traces, which have been secured to strengthen the ministerial investigation.
Following the seizure of the animals, personnel from the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA) arrived at the scene to take charge of their custody and care. Both properties have been placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry to continue with the corresponding investigations.
Coordinated Efforts to Combat High-Impact Crimes
The SSPE indicated that these actions are part of the coordination strategy between authorities from the three levels of government to combat high-impact crimes and strengthen investigations in the entity. This operation highlights the unexpected elements that can emerge during criminal investigations.
The discovery of exotic animals such as a Bengal tiger and an alligator in connection with a homicide investigation underscores the complexity and unusual nature of some criminal activities in the region. Authorities continue to work to unravel the full scope of the case and bring those responsible to justice.
This incident also raises questions about the illegal trade and possession of exotic animals in Ciudad Juarez, an aspect that PROFEPA will likely investigate further as they care for the seized creatures.
The coordinated efforts between different law enforcement agencies are essential in tackling complex criminal cases that often involve multiple facets, from violent crimes to environmental offenses.
