The cub, estimated to be five months old, was transferred to a wildlife management unit authorized by Semarnat for specialized care and rehabilitation.
Rescue and Initial Assessment
The tiger cub was initially secured by the Mexico City Public Security Secretariat. Following a request from the Public Ministry, PROFEPA personnel, acting as wildlife experts, arrived at the scene. This facility is duly authorized by Semarnat and possesses the necessary infrastructure, personnel, and specialized care required for a tiger of this nature.
At the Invictus Foundation, the cub will undergo a period of quarantine and thorough veterinary examination. This process is crucial to ensure its health and well-being before a permanent relocation site is determined. The Bengal tiger is listed in Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), which includes species threatened with extinction whose trade is subject to strict regulations to prevent further endangerment of their survival.
