Binational ‘Love Your Heart’ Campaign Kicks Off in Ciudad Juarez

Ciudad Juarez, February 16, 2026 – The State Government, through the Secretary of Health, in collaboration with the Mexico-U.S. Border Health Commission, officially launched the binational campaign ‘Love Your Heart’ in Ciudad Juarez yesterday. This initiative is designed to promote healthy lifestyles among the population and will run from February 16 to February 20 in the Chihuahua border region, as well as in southern U.S. states including Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. The campaign seeks to strengthen public health cooperation across the region.

Promoting Early Detection and Self-Care

During the inauguration, Secretary of Health Gilberto Baeza emphasized that the campaign aims to foster a culture of regular blood pressure measurement among individuals over 18 years of age. This proactive approach is crucial for the early detection of heart conditions. Baeza reiterated that ‘Love Your Heart’ is part of a broader inter-institutional effort to strengthen self-care, especially in light of cardiovascular diseases being a leading cause of morbidity in the state.

45 Modules for Free Blood Pressure Checks

Rogelio Covarrubias, Director of Health District II Juarez, announced that 45 modules will be set up across the 23 health centers in the State of Chihuahua and other public institutions. These modules will offer free blood pressure checks to the public. The campaign’s slogan, “Measure your blood pressure, control it, and live longer,” underscores its core message. In addition to screenings, participants will receive guidance on improving their lifestyles, including advice on balanced nutrition, physical activity, stress reduction, and other habits that contribute to heart health.

Key Figures Attend Launch Event

The launch event saw the attendance of personnel from the Secretary of Health and the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez (UACJ). Also present were Héctor Ocaranza from the El Paso, Texas Public Health Department, and Mauricio Ibarra, the Consul General of Mexico in El Paso, Texas. Following the official proceedings, a demonstration of blood pressure measurement was conducted for the invited authorities, highlighting the importance of this preventive procedure.

The ‘Love Your Heart’ campaign represents a significant step in promoting cardiovascular health and cross-border cooperation, aiming to empower citizens with the knowledge and tools to maintain a healthy heart and improve their overall well-being.
