CIUDAD JUÁREZ, Chihuahua, Mexico – The body of a man, wrapped in a blanket, was found abandoned early Wednesday morning in the streets of the Margaritas neighborhood, behind the General Hospital in Ciudad Juárez. This discovery was reported by the Municipal Public Security Secretariat.
Police Respond to Citizen Reports of Suspicious Bundle
Preventive agents from the University district made the discovery after receiving citizen reports about a suspicious bundle lying on a public road. According to the police report, at 00:13 hours, officers in unit 205 located the body at the intersection of Ignacio Zaragoza and Juan de la Barrera streets. Upon confirming it was a deceased person, the officers notified their superiors and proceeded to secure the scene according to protocol.
A coordinator from the corporation stated that part of the body was uncovered, revealing visible signs of severe beating and abundant blood around the victim.
Investigation Underway, Identity Unknown
As of now, the identity of the man has not been released by authorities, nor have any arrests been made in connection with this violent act.
Extensive Operation in the Area
Following the report, ministerial police and forensic experts from the Northern Zone District Attorney’s Office arrived at the scene. They conducted a detailed inspection in search of evidence that could clarify the crime.
Traffic in the sector was partially restricted while forensic procedures were carried out and the body was removed by the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo). Semefo will officially determine the cause of death and work to identify the victim.
Residents of the area observed police activity for several hours as agents collected evidence and photographs of the scene. Authorities have not ruled out any lines of investigation.
Homicidal Violence Continues in the City
This homicide brings the total number of people murdered in Ciudad Juárez to 34 for the current month, according to statistics from the Life Crimes Unit of the State Attorney General’s Office.
The discovery occurs amidst a wave of violent incidents recorded in various sectors of Ciudad Juárez, where homicide victims are frequently found with signs of torture or abandoned in public places.
Ministerial authorities continue their investigations to determine the motive for the crime and to establish whether the case is related to organized crime activities or other recent criminal acts in the city.
Meanwhile, corporations from all three levels of government are maintaining operations in different areas of Juárez as part of security strategies implemented to contain the incidence of crime.
