CCE Juárez Calls for Feeder Routes to Enhance Public Transport Connectivity
Ciudad Juárez, September 7, 2026 – The Business Coordinating Council (CCE) in Ciudad Juárez has formally requested the State Government to expedite the implementation of feeder routes to improve public transportation and connectivity within the city’s residential areas. This plea comes after a bi-weekly CCE session where business leaders met with Undersecretary of Transportation, Manuel Aguirre.
Aguirre highlighted the achievements of the BRT system, noting over 73,000 daily trips and future plans for a fourth route along Villarreal Torres Boulevard. However, Fernando Suárez Cerón, president of the CCE, emphasized that while the BRT’s progress is acknowledged, there remains a critical need for expanded public transport in residential zones.
Addressing the Gaps in Connectivity
“We recognize the advancement of the BRT, but what concerns us most as business owners are the routes that facilitate communication between other parts of the city that need to connect to these BRT routes. It is important to provide this follow-up service where some BRT stations end,” stated Suárez Cerón.
He pointed out specific areas requiring immediate attention, particularly the southeast of the city, including Riberas del Bravo. This region concentrates approximately a third of the city’s population, leading to significant demand for transport options and current traffic congestion.
“The continuity to Riberas del Bravo, towards the southeast of the city, that is what concerns us as business owners. These sectors are immersed in Index, which are the maquiladoras, in the southeast where more than 500,000 people live in that section. Undoubtedly, public transport, even with the advances that have been made, must continue to improve,” Suárez Cerón added.

The lack of adequate feeder routes disproportionately affects residents in these densely populated areas, many of whom are employed in the maquiladora industry. Improved connectivity would not only ease daily commutes but also contribute to the overall economic efficiency of the city by ensuring workers can reliably access their workplaces.
